Hybrid Mattress Review From Bedbuyer

We are so excited to receive the latest review on Hybrid Mattress from Bed Buyer.

They responded so positive with this mattress that we can not wait to share the content as follows.

Newentor Hybrid Mattress Review

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress is a great value, innerspring mattress. It would suit those looking for a decent, budget priced mattress or a good option for a guest room.

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress makes up part of the Newentor product range that also includes the Newentor Hesperis Mattress and the Newentor Morpheus Pillow.

Purchase and delivery

As with other ‘bed in a box’ products, the Newentor Hybrid Mattress can be conveniently online (through the Newentor website), and it will be delivered to your door in a compact box. Although it doesn’t come with any wheels, our box arrived in good condition.

Delivery of the Newentor Hybrid Mattress is free and the mattress can be delivered Australia-wide (see delivery times below in our ‘Delivery’ section further down).

Removing the mattress from its packaging wasstraightforwardd, but we always recommend having two people on hand to help unpack a bed in a box. As per our standard testing process, we gave the mattress 24 hours to decompress before we conducted our testing.

The mattress comes with a thoughtful thank you note, along with a product booklet and a handy cutting tool (to help remove the plastic wrapping).

Aesthetically, the Newentor Hybrid Mattress presents well with a warm and modern look. It has a relatively low height (25cm) and uses a grey and navy blue color theme. To see this mattress in real life, you can view Newentor’s product video.

Mattress construction

From top to bottom, the Newentor Hybrid Mattress starts with a premium bamboo charcoal fabric (1). This is designed to help to protect against bacteria, and may also help with moisture (and temperature) regulation.

This top cover sits over several layers of comfort foam. These includes a layer of memory foam (2), a layer ofpressure-relievingg high-elasticity foam (3), and a layer of pressure relieving high-elasticity foam with non-woven fabric (4).

These comfort layers sit over 7-zonene pocket spring system (5) as the main support structure. This pocket spring system uses harder springs on the perimeter of the mattress to enhance edge support.

Underneath these springs lies a layer of pressure-relieving high-elasticity foam with wear-resistant fabric (6). Under this foam layer is an anti-slip bottom (7) that uses a ‘grippy’ backing material to help prevent the mattress from moving and sliding.

Comfort and support

The top comfort layer of this mattress feel foamy, and is reasonably comfortable. The foam layers absorb body weight smoothly, and the mattress should suit all sleeping positions (side sleepers, back sleepers, and stomach sleepers).

Understandably though its suitability for different sleeping positions will vary between individuals.

In terms of firmness, our team rated the Newentor Hybrid Mattress a 7.5 / 10 on the firmness scale (with 10 being the firmest). Please note that our firmness ratings are just a guide and they do not necessarily relate to comfort. Furthermore, our firmness ratings are assigned based on Bedbuyer’s testing process and these may differ from firmness ratings given by individual companies.

The 7 zone pocket spring system is serviceable, and offers a reasonable level of spinal support. Based on our testing, this mattress should accommodate people of most sizes, but larger people (e.g. over 100kgs) may want to consider a higher quality innerspring mattress.

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress responds very well to normal sleep movements and we rated its level of responsiveness as optimal. In basic terms, this means that changing sleep positions (and intimate activities) shouldn’t be any trouble.

Please note that our responsiveness scales are just a guide and preferred responsiveness levels will vary between individuals. It’s worth noting also that innerspring mattresses are generally more responsive than foam mattresses.

The finer details

In terms of build quality, the Newentor Hybrid Mattress is highly respectable in the context of price. It lacks the refinement of some other mattress-in-a-box products, but this is to be expected when you consider that it is less than half the price of many of its competitors.

The quality of the fabric cover is admirable, and the foam components appear to be of a reasonable standard.

Motion transfer on the Newentor Hybrid Mattress is minimal, so a restless partner shouldn’t be a huge problem. This low level of partner disturbance is particularly impressive for a mattress in this price bracket. Of course, partner disturbance will depend on the size of the mattress (e.g. king size) and the size of the occupants of the bed.

In terms of build quality, the Newentor Hybrid Mattress is highly respectable in context of price.

The lack of side handles was disappointing, but certainly not a deal breaker when you consider its relatively light weight. The firmer springs around the mattress perimeter did seem to ensure that edge support was reasonable.

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress comes with a solid 120 night trial period, which means that you can return the mattress for a full refund if you are not satisfied. The mattress also comes with a 10 year warranty, giving you plenty of peace of mind.

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress’ top cover is certified as non-toxic by OEKO-TEX, one of the world’s leading authorities in linen and fabric testing. The memory foam layer is also certified by CertiPUR-US®.

What bed base should I use?

As with most mattresses, we recommend the Newentor Hybrid Mattress to be used with a solid bed frame (such as the Sleep Republic Pro Base), with ‘rigid’ slats.

A bed frame with flexible (posture) slats may still be adequate, but in this case we strongly recommend that the distance between each slat is less than 8 cm. Use of an unsupportive mattress foundation will usually void the mattress warranty.

Sleep Republic Pro Base

Furthermore, we do not recommend the Newentor Hybrid Mattress to be used with an adjustable (electric) bed base as this may also void the warranty. Here is our full list of mattresses that are compatible with an adjustable bed base.

It’s worth noting here that mattress firmness, performance, and durability will vary with different bed bases.

Available sizes

This mattress is available in all 7 sizes (super king, king, queen, double, king single, long single, and single size) so it should accommodate all sleeping arrangements.

Here are Australia’s standard bed (mattress) sizes in 2022.

Final verdict

The Newentor Hybrid Mattress is a great buy and is remarkably well priced. It has a nice balance of comfort and support, and its top comfort layers are certified as non-toxic. Its 120 night trial period is also noteworthy, when you consider its price.

Bedbuyer’s rating: 3.8 / 5
