Koala Pillow Review [2nd Gen]

As an upgraded version of the classic Koala pillow, the Koala Pillow (2nd Gen) features adjustable temperature and firmness, offering versatile functions that can be changed according to the season.

1.1 The Construction & Design of Koala Pillow [2nd Gen]

The biggest highlight of this pillow is its dual-sided pillowcase. One side features a cool, slightly firm CoolThread fabric, ideal for use in summer, while the other side uses soft organic cotton, perfect for winter use. The pillowcase is removable and washable.

When I first opened it, I noticed a slight chemical smell typical of new pillows, but after about 24 hours, the smell disappeared. It’s recommended to wash the pillowcase once before using it for the first time.

The pillowcase uses a zipper design, and it only takes a few seconds to unzip. When the zippers on both sides are closed, you can noticeably feel the firmness increase. If you unzip it, the pillow becomes soft again. If you prefer a medium-soft feel, you can zip both sides halfway.

After removing the foam core, the pillow interior is made of polyurethane foam, partially composed of bio-based content (16% soybean oil). The foam provides good support, with a rebound time of about 2-3 seconds, effectively conforming to the natural curve of your neck.

1.2 The Pros and Cons of Koala Pillow

Pros

  • Well-crafted, soft and comfortable, with a dual-sided design.
  • Eco-friendly materials, combining sustainability with comfort.
  • Good support with an ergonomic design that keeps my neck and spine aligned.
  • Ideal for people who overheat easily.
  • 120-night free trial & 1-year warranty.

Cons

  • The price is on the higher end of the mid-to-high range, and compared to the Newentor memory foam pillow, the Koala pillow is slightly less cost-effective. If you're looking to buy in bulk, the Newentor pillow is also a good option.

1.3 The Price List of Koala Pillow

  • 1 Pillow $131
  • 2 Pillows $254
  • 4 Pillows $483

1.4 Koala Pillow Reviews from Real Users

The Koala pillow has an overall rating of 4.6/5 on ProductReview, with a total of 215 reviews. We’ve selected some of the most helpful reviews for your reference. While the firmness of a pillow is a subjective experience, most of the negative reviews mention that the pillow feels a bit too high.

Disappointing. Maybe Ok if you like high pillows – I've had issues with my neck for a while, read good things about this but alas it's all marketing, it's a very large pillow, barely fits in to a pillowcase, and is so high your neck is always at an uncomfortable angle. Disappointing. Hasn't improved anything, not sure if it's made it worse yet.

From Sirro ProductReview

The Koala Pillow 2nd Gen has transformed my sleep routine— it's incredibly comfortable with its adjustable firmness that cradles my head and neck perfectly, whether I zip it firm for side sleeping or softer for back. What stands out most is how cool it stays all night. After weeks of use, I've ditched my old pillows for good; it's supportive without being rigid, and the washable cover keeps it fresh—highly recommend for anyone chasing that cool, plush perfection.

From Steve T

This pillow is not suitable for side or stomach sleepers, it was both too firm and too high. When attempting to return I sent multiple emails with no responses. When I was able to find where to send it back online I sent it back straight away. 4 weeks on I heard nothing back. When attempting to call the company they told me my address is rural however we live in metro Melbourne? Still waiting on some form of customer support. Very difficult returns process.
